This is my video tour of the Altamonte Mall located in Florida — about 20 minutes drive from Downtown Orlando.
This two-story mall opened in 1974 — has 160 stores in one-million one-hundred fifty thousand square feet of total retail space. Additionally there are 5,700 parking spaces. This is a fairly busy mall with four anchors including Sears, Macy’s, JCPenney and Dillards just up ahead. Notable tenants include AMC Theatres, Forever 21, Apple Store, Banana Republic, Barnes & Noble, Charlotte russe, H&M, Chick-fil-A, Pandora, Victoria’s Secret and Taco Bell. We are back on the first floor now. It’s been reported that Sears will be closing this location in late August. Last spring Sears identified 100 unprofitable stores that could be shut down. This will be the fourth Sears location in Central Florida closed in recent years including Orlando Fashion Square and West Oaks Mall. The good news is that the property owner has been targeting this site for redevelopment for more than a year and has even featured Altamonte Mall as a site for new hotels and retail during presentations at real estate trade shows. With this Altamonte Mall Sears location closing, Sears will have just two department stores in Central Florida including Oviedo and Florida Mall. I hope you enjoyed this tour of the Altamonte Mall.
